CHH Personal Ads for 6/21
Check out this week's singles from Paris, NYC, Boulder, Atlanta, and Washington DC
This is the third issue of CHH personals ads! If you’d like to be considered for the next round, you can read the instructions here, although if you’ve already submitted, rest assured you could still be featured in a future round (I don’t know how often I’ll do these- maybe every two weeks or so?) So hang tight! Being featured in the column is a benefit to paid subscribers only, but viewing the column is free.
The personals ads do NOT discriminate based on age, race, or sexuality, in any direction. I also do not discriminate on looks, so if you aren’t chosen it has nothing to do with your suitability as a partner or your attractiveness. I simply can’t choose everyone because I want this to be a fairly curated group and not an endless scroll. Right now, I am mostly limiting these to US-based participants, only because of the likelihood of getting a response if you are outside the US, but this might change.
If you are on the fence about reaching out, REACH OUT! I will only keep doing these if the singles are getting any traction from them! There is a major dearth of female participants, so especially if you are a woman please submit. Note that this is also open to LGBTQ+ people.
Last point: please remember to be respectful in the comments, and with any notes you send to the singles.
Puneeta, 38
Location: Paris (works remotely and willing to move.) Originally from India.
Interested in: Men, age 32-45 (willing to bend the ages a little if everything else aligns.)
Occupation: Tech CEO/founder (runs a company that employs 12 people with her friend and co-founder.)
Favorite CHH article (for conversation starters and openers!) In her words: "Men yearn for the alpha female" - was great fun and very useful. As a goody-two shoes it made so much sense cause the bitchiest women I know are happily married and their husbands love them for it :D Also made me think about how I could be bitchy to men - I often avoid discussions of philosophy and politics cause I disagree with pretty much both sides (left and right) and I assumed men would hate me if they knew what I thought - and if I really flexed my argumentative lawyer mode. But I tried arguing with a couple of guys and they really like it. They like being challenged and don't take offense at all (I don't either). One guy said it was refreshing? Who knew?
More about her: In her words, “I am a lazy go-getter (if that makes sense). I am very much a writer trapped in the body of a CEO. My dream as a kid was to be a reader and people would tell me that wasn't a real job. Later I found out it was a real job but by then it was too late. I was in tech and loved it. I swear I fell into this role without realizing it. I love a sense of achievement and can go do a 10 hour workday but I also can just roll myself into a buritto and read 3 books back to back. I am learning to exercise and walk a lot, a lot these days. I love men (ideal) though men (real) disappoint me a lot. I don't mind stoic, quiet men as long as they don't mind me being high-energy, golden-retriever happy-go-lucky. I can talk nineteen to the dozen. My biggest flaw is that when I get too excited in a conversation I will interrupt you - I know I hate it too. Working on it. I have a strong working class background(my dad was a mechanic and grandpa was a fisherman and dockworker). I come from a tough family situation cause I lost my father when I was 17. It has kinda defined my life in a tragic "before and after way" and I hate that. My father would be very disappointed that his death was the big event that bifurcated my life into two, so I really look forward to when the big event in my personal life will be marriage and babies so those will be the defining moments of my life.”
Religious and/or Political views: She is an atheist, and open to an agnostic partner but doesn’t want to participate in religious rituals.
Future Dreams: She wants marriage and children. In her words: “Dream set-up would be living in a Parisian or London suburb and having 3 kids and eating spaghetti bolognese, bread and olive oil with my charming husband who loves to cook.”
How to contact her: Email her at uchil.puneeta@gmail.com
Shep, 49
You might recognize Shep (it’s his middle name, Jeremy is his first name but he goes by Shep too) from the dating app simulator! After getting pretty good results on the simulator, he’s giving the real thing a try. He was also featured in a recent article about how his real height versus fake height in my survey (5’7” vs. 6’0”) impacted his results. (Good news: they didn’t impact them very much at all— he is 5’7” in real life.)
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Interested in: Women, 38-54, for short or long-term relationships. He prefers women who are local to NYC.
Occupation: Creative director at ad agency.
More about him: Shep wants a partner who is curious—he says if you’re reading CHH, that’s a good start (I promise you these are his words, not mine.) He’s artsy (no surprise as a creative director) and enjoys photography, animation and design, but he also has a technical/nerdy side.
Religious and/or Political views: In his own words: “My politics are slightly to the right of what you'd expect from a half Jewish design type based in Brooklyn, which means I'm only "really quite liberal; more than most" and not "extremely liberal veering to lefty". The substackers I follow, and (sometimes) agree with are CHH, Jeremiah Johnson(
), Matthew Yglesias ( ) and Jeff Maurer (). I have no kids but like them (I love being the fun uncle) and am open to them.”Future Dreams: “I do like city life and that there's so much around me. But that city doesn't have to be NYC — I do like exploring — and I like getting out to nature when I can. I would like more time to create and explore, less stress, and, of course, a partner.”
How to contact him: Reach him by email at jeremy@scharlack.com or scharlack@hey.com (they go to the same place)
Adam, 36
Adam was another lucky gentleman featured in my height article (in case you are wondering, he is 5’11” in real life but saw pretty good results as an imaginary 5’6” too.)
Location: Boulder, CO (currently traveling around
Interested in: Women, although he didn’t specify age he did say the following: “I tend to be attracted to creative, career-oriented divorcées that enjoy the outdoors. Cynicism bores me. Double-entry accounting is hot.”
Occupation: Software engineer (remote)
Favorite CHH article (for conversation starters and openers!) He’s mostly here for Many Such Takes, the weekly free roundup of Twitter drama and discourse, but his favorite premium articles are DOGE Is About Sex and White Lotus is Rich People Hate-Porn For Rich People.
More about him: In his words, “Honesty and kindness are both really important to me. I think that learning how to be both at the same time is an important life skill.” He wants a monogamous relationship with children. In fact, he jokes, “I drive a beater of a car and spend all of my money on travel and 529 plans for children I do not yet have.” He says, “The only dating advice I ever got from my father growing up was to ‘marry someone smarter than you.’ I recently related this to my grandmother, and she immediately exclaimed ‘that should be easy for you!’ I'm still not quite sure how to take that.”
Religious and/or Political views: He didn’t specify anything specific about religion or politics, so it’s probably not a major dealbreaker area but he did share the following: “I've spent most of my adult life in Boulder and probably only imagine myself not to be a hippy. I also imagine myself unathletic and I ran twenty miles last weekend. ("But you don't understand, half my friends are ultra-marathoners.")”
Future Dreams: His dream setup is to rejoin science and spend the next decade being a work-from-home dad. “I'd like to split time between a home base and long stints abroad.”
How to contact him: He takes this so seriously he created an email address just for this pursuit, so you can reach him at Adam.chhpersonals@gmail.com
Dhruv, 32
Location: Atlanta, GA
Interested in: Women, 30-40
Occupation: He works in tech (AI) and while his official title is Manager of Applied AI and Products, he also describes himself as more or less a technical product manager.
Favorite CHH Article (for conversation starters and openers): He likes I Was Wrong About Friendship, because he believes relationships of all kinds take effort and work, which is why many adults struggle to make friends.
More about him: He deeply values a partner who wants to find someone to add joy to their lives instead of complete their lives. He wants someone who already has meaningful hobbies, work, and other things they care about. He takes inspiration from his family: “An inspiration for my view, is my cousin who told her husband he wasn’t her knight in shining armor, but rather her #1 fan in her most shining moments. That’s goals to me as my partner should feel our relationship only enhances their ability to find fulfillment in all aspects of their life (work, hobbies, fitness etc) rather then act as a blocker.” On a more fun note, he enjoys karaoke and dreams of singing Nelly Furtado’s Promiscuous but with him as Nelly and the woman as Timbaland. He does a solo international trip for his birthday every year and wants to do Brazil or Argentina for this next one in November. He loves swimming, kayaking and other water sports. While he wouldn’t necessarily describe himself as “artsy,” he enjoys museums, being around art and loves creative people.
Religious and/or Political views: He is a Democrat, although he specifies he’s more of a Obama/Clinton Democrat than a Bernie/AOC Democrat and would prefer a partner with fairly similar views.
Future Dreams: He doesn’t want children, but believes in supporting children as part of a community (he coaches soccer.) Describing his dream setup: “I’m a city guy so give me a sleek, mid-century modern apartment in NYC, DC, Boston, or London similar to Kerry Washington’s apartment shown on Architectural Digest. I’d like to have a permanent residence so I can build a community, but that wouldn’t preclude me from owning a spacious vacation home on the water, a place to host loud, happy gatherings for holidays and special occasions. Places like Tahoe, the Gulf Coast, or Northern Michigan come to mind. I’d love for our homes to be pet-friendly, as few things can match the joy animals bring to our lives though I don’t currently have one right now. If you want some daily serotonin, check out this pig named Merlin on Instagram and be prepared to fall in love.”
How to contact him: On Instagram at dhruvalexander1987, or via email: dhruvalexander@gmail.com
Sheehan, 33
Location: Washington DC (open to long distance)
Interested in: Women, 23-30 (he clarified that this age range is not a hard limit, but he wanted to be clear that he wants kids but isn’t financially ready for them yet, and he wouldn’t want to be with someone who wants them very soon.)
Occupation: IT, and in grad school for machine learning
More about him: He wants to be with someone who is curious, supportive, ambitious and active (he mentions interest in physical activities like backpacking, running and climbing.) He spends a lot of time with friends and is entering a period of stability in his life due to his student loans being forgiven for government service. He enjoys day hikes, but is interested in going camping soon. He’s also been reading classical literature (currently, Moby Dick.)
Religious and/or Political views: He has leftist political views and wants children. He’s open to partners with different political views depending on their key issues and reasoning. He is an atheist, but is open to dating people who aren’t.
Future Dreams: In his words: “Oh this is completely childish of me, but if money was no constraint I would build a huge compound that’s a mix between a wizards tower and Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. A place that was full of weird little rooms and challenges. I’d lottery out invitations to people across the world just to watch them explore and have adventures. Something like a cross between an escape room, a obstacle course, and public library. Infinity Train is a point of reference (good show too). Realistically, I’m aiming for the white picket fence somewhere nice. Good schools would be top of mind. I’m not super picky for the where as long as its near a major city and not in the south.”
How to contact him: You can email him at Ferrellsheehan@gmail.com
Wishing all the singles great success!
Ok everyone you’ve featured seems fun and interesting! I’m going to direct my single friends to your substack instead of the Accursed Apps from now on.
If I lived in Paris I would absolutely seek out Puneeta for friendship purposes. She is so cool!
