Many Such Takes: Charlize Theron, Sohamgate, Doordash and More
The most unhinged discourse of the week, always free
I encourage you to become a free OR paid subscriber, but I should let you know that today is one of the last days to take advantage of my 4th of July sale on annual subscriptions. This will apply to new paid subscriptions only (it won’t kick in if you’re switching from monthly to annual.) Welcome to Many Such Takes! For those unfamiliar, this is a free weekly segment (I also do lots of other stuff!) For Many Such Takes, I stay up to date with the latest and most chaotic Twitter (and now BlueSky) discourse so you don’t have to. If you see yourself featured here and you don’t like it, simply send me a Substack message and I will happily remove, no matter who you are or what you said.

I still need more participants for the following anonymous surveys:
Married sex survey- this one is for married people. Yes, I will ask about your sex life. You can even overshare in a long-form section.
Dating survey for everyone, regardless of relationship status. If you are in a relationship, there is a section that will ask you to answer for your previously single self.
Charlize Theron
A video dropped this week of 49-year-old actress Charlize Theron on a podcast bragging about having a fulfilling sexual romp with a 26-year-old man. As you can expect, we got plenty of takes asking about what would happen if the genders were reversed:
I actually didn’t see anyone accusing her of grooming, only bringing it up rhetorically to make a point about the comments people make about older male celebrities who have sex with young women.
THIS ISN’T A HOT TAKE! THIS IS WHAT 98% OF PEOPLE BELIEVE!!!
But this guy is saying what I think most of us are wondering:
Sohamgate
Remember at the beginning of WFH, some engineers on Reddit boasted about being “overemployed” and secretly working for multiple companies at once? I had completely forgotten anyone was doing this, until Suhail Doshi, the founder of Playground AI, warned everyone on tech Twitter about a guy named Soham Parekh who is operating out of India and preying on multiple Y Combinator tech companies. Apparently Suhail was one of his first victims, and he continued this ruse after being fired.
Suhail later posted Soham’s resume and said he suspected almost all of it was fake. Twitter responded to ask Suhail how he could possibly have hired someone with a completely fake resume if he was checking references and running background checks:
To Suhail’s credit, I have had multiple background checks run on me during my time in tech, and almost every single time, they were unable to confirm my (truthful!) work history, even at established companies that were still in business. But in these cases, I was expected to provide some kind of proof of employment (like W2s or offer letters) so this still feels suspicious.
Anyway, Suhail’s tweet actually affected Soham’s job prospects as he continued his scam:
Another Soham victim came forward:
Other people found the whole thing humorous:
This woman pointed out that Soham is actually a rookie in the scam game:
The RTO defenders came out. BOOOOO.
Eventually, Soham saw the tweets and reached out to Suhail to see if there was anything he could to to save his career:
Some Twitter users suggested that Soham should start his own interview coaching business, since obviously he’s really good at getting jobs. I agree with this, although I feel like I have to point out that I already wrote a guide on this!
Doordash
While many women have found themselves on the receiving end of a “Karen” accusation simply for telling a waiter about their allergy, this week we got a treat: a real Karen…and HE is a boy!
“Rufus” (not sure if that’s his real name) shared screenshots of his conversation with a new Doordash driver who found herself stuck in traffic, unfamiliar with the area, and in the middle of a dust storm. His response: DO BETTER!!!!!!
“Doordash discourse” is pretty much a constant on Twitter, but usually about half of the people are on the side of the customer—for example, disabled people who can’t easily go out to get their own food (even if sometimes that disability is just ADHD.) In this case, everyone except OP was on the side of the Doordash driver:

Do You Want a Submissive Woman, or Just a Woman Who Likes You?
It’s not uncommon to hear a man (especially an online man) say that he wants a “submissive” woman. This is usually said against the backdrop of what they believe to be a population of hostile, masculinized, gruff and overly-dominant girlbosses who are failing to manifest any male attention because they’ve abandoned their softer, sweeter side for the fake glory of Excel spreadsheets.
My Sexual Preferences are Natural, Your Sexual Preferences are Evil
A while ago, I wrote about my foray into the red pill community, both the parts for men and the parts for women (the red pill at its core is for men, so the parts for women always feel kind of disjointed.) You can read the full article if you need the context, but basically, “the red pill” as a theory, encompasses all the inconvenient truths about sex and relationships for men—chief among them the fact that women’s attraction is
I feel so bad for the young man who got to [checks notes] fuck Charlize Theron...?
My hot take on the Charlize is even if the genders were the other way around, there really isn’t an issue. They were both consenting adults who would have known what they were doing.
