I want to hereby reassure all my male readers that today might not be for you, but if you are in need of men’s fashion advice, check out my men’s fashion guide from last year, or my husband’s guide for dad fashion—or perhaps the results of the men’s fashion survey.

Ladies, read on.

When I write about fashion (which admittedly, isn’t that often) realism is always front and center. Last fall, I wrote about how to incorporate fall fashion trends into a SAHM lifestyle and not look completely frumpy. Obviously, our senses of style might not be the same. But even if we disagree on minor style quirks, it’s likely that many of you reading this are:

  • Women who live relatively normal lives, either as moms or just regular women going to their normal jobs (or both.) Okay, yes, you’re on Substack, so I’m not saying you’re normal, but you probably aren’t going to Fashion Week or “funky art gallery openings,” which is my best understanding of what a dorky person thinks living in New York City entails.

  • Not seasoned “fashion people” who already know everything. Look, if you were, you wouldn’t be reading this, unless you were reading it to make fun of me, which case, again, I won’t judge!

  • Have some money and enjoy spending it on clothing from time to time, but do not have $500 to drop on a cardigan on a regular basis. Never fear—I will include some “nicer” pieces but most of the stuff I reference here will be affordable. (Affordable is relative, I know, but I’m trying.) Also, this has no affiliate links or sponsorships. Everything I link here comes from my genuine interest and enthusiasm.

  • Prefer natural fibers, especially cotton. Personally, I’m fine with some synthetics, like viscose or Aritzia’s (honestly amazing) Wonder Yarn. But because some people have requested a guide focused only on items with natural fibers, I’m happy to acquiesce!

Onward…
