FIRST Podcast Episode: Noah Smith on "Coming Out" (As Straight)

For 12 years, economics writer Noah Smith experienced no sexual attraction. Now at 43, he's attracted to women again--and ready to talk about what happened.

Welcome to the FIRST ever episode of my podcast! (If you don’t include all the previous Trump impression mini-episdoes, which are still up.) You should be able to find the CHH Podcast on Spotify as well as Substack. Please leave a review and subscribe!

I really want this podcast to revolve around talking with people about unexpected topics that they don’t normally discuss. So I wanted to chat with

about his regaining his ability to be attracted to women and his desire to have sex and relationships.

For twelve years, Noah adopted the label of “ace,” or asexual, after some life events and mental health challenges left him incapable of experiencing sexual or romantic attraction (Note that in his case, asexuality wasn’t a true sexual orientation the way it can be for other people—but he felt it was easier to identify this way even if it was a medical condition.) It wasn’t until recently—at age 43—that he’s been able to experience attraction again, and he’s ready to talk about it. And we talked about everything—for 90 minutes.

It was a pleasure to have him on the pod—please subscribe to him if you aren’t already, and enjoy our conversation! I know I did!
