A lot of the Nara Smith hate is envy that tries to dress up as more serious criticism (“she’s glamorizing Mormonism” etc) but falls flat cuz it’s really not that serious. I love how unbothered and wacky she is.

I agree! I also think people online will always find a way to hate on someone who is living the kind of life that we are sold when we are kids: disney princess fairytale with the perfect man and children. I don’t think making food from scratch was a part of that dream, but still! And even with the whole “making peanut butter and jelly from scratch,” it’s easy to make fun of but if you did a little more research, you would know that she suffers from intense eczema and that is why she does that! She achieved her wealth through modeling, so she has the means, so what’s the problem??? It all goes back to envy. Idk maybe it’s not that deep, but it is undeniable that people online just want to assume the worst.

Right? I think so many people will see someone living their best life and just think "so you think you're better than me???"

Thank you for writing this lol I was high key considering starting a Substack just so I could write an article about how insane the Nara Smith internet hate is. *She is not a tradwife.* The only parts of her content that is remotely tradwife coded are the "cooking/baking for her family" videos. The rest is standard lifestyle influencer stuff with her unique personality added. Unlike tradwives, she doesn't push her values down anyone's throats, pick fights with feminists, or talk about how working women are missing out on their kids. She isn't even a SAHM.

By the way, not related to Nara Smith in particular but on Spanish Twitter/TikTokthere is a Nara Smith equivalent lol, who hath brought discourse as well. In this case it's more "pro-trad wife" discourse from dumb style (you know the type, "alpha male"/"masculinity") right wing accounts and counterdiscourse from left wing girls (mostly) LOL

An article about it w some video embeds if you're curious (in Spanish but it's a "newspaper" so probably easy to translate): https://www.articulo14.es/cultura/roro-la-perfecta-tiktoker-trad-wife-viral-que-cocina-para-su-novio-pablo-2-20240716.html

I just saw the thread on Twitter the other day about Nara's allegedly stealing the recipes. If the time stamps are true (i.e. the other woman posted first) I don't understand the fake email (unless someone else sent to her pretending to be Nara?).

I just regard her as trolling: she can't really be expecting anyone to think she's actually cooking in those outfits/wearing that jewelry while kneading bread. She's just using cooking as the hook, I expect her to do a fashion collab or her own line soon.
