A while ago, I announced that I was taking submissions for men who wanted to be featured in my men’s fashion survey, which I would be conducting with the help of
, who knows way more about statistics than I do. Today, the survey is finally here!Thank you to all the men who submitted outfits. Unfortunately, I was unable to take the majority of submissions, mostly because of photo quality, inability to see the full outfit, or the fact that the outfits were too similar to others that I had selected. But rest assured, if you were not chosen, it was not a statement on your fashion sense!
If you’re curious to see who was chosen and to cast your ratings, fill out the survey here. Please refrain from discussing the outfits in too much detail until the results are posted, since I don’t want that to sway votes. Also, please refrain from any sexualizing/insulting comments about the men themselves, even after the results are published. Everyone is eligible to fill it out!
Zoomers Buy Clothes That Fit You Challenge (impossible)
What struck me on a lot of the outfits were the shoes - the combination of the cell phone shots often being shot from a higher angle tilted down and the cutoff heads drew the eye down to the worst part of the ensemble. Which kills me, as I know my shoes are often the most mismatched part of my day-to-day outfits.
The fits sometimes threw me as well, but I'm not sure in the same way it did other commenters. There are a couple of choices I'm really interested to see the result based on fit.
If anything, I think the choices were too narrow - the choice to use reader-submitted photos may have led to a dataset more skewed towards "trying to impress" than a larger sample of what guys wear. There were practically no t-shirt or hoodie-focused outfits, for instance.
