How a Reddit sub's quest for the "perfect vagina" went off the rails

Heads up: this post is about a porn sub, but obviously I won’t be linking any porn here :)

A long time ago on Reddit, I aimed to troll a subreddit by posting my friend’s neck rolls as a vulva and seeing if anyone would buy it. This was Reddit, so naturally, some did:

Anyway, I wound up posting this on (appropriately), r/pussy. Guys who are more into vaginas than boobs or butts can peruse the r/pussy top posts to view different labia in various interesting poses. Generally, guys who comment on porn subreddits are easily amused and react the same way to nearly every image, with unfaltering praise. Good for them.

But I went down the r/pussy rabbit hole, so to speak. I stumbled upon something else: r/GodPussy.

This subreddit (with over 2 million members) describes itself as “a sub for pussy so holy it has reached demi-god status.” Okay, I’ll be honest: immediately, I was obsessed. I wanted to understand what defines a “godpussy.” How rare were they? Did I have one?

Just to be clear, this is not a participation trophy kind of thing. This subreddit has specific standards for what they consider a godpussy, and it’s not just about image quality (although that’s certainly part of it.)

Maybe this is the straight woman in me talking, but I don’t really think genitals are all that aesthetically pleasing to begin with—feels like it’s more the connotation of sex that makes them appealing. But, as I’ve said many times, male and female sexuality is different, and while women generally don’t enjoy disembodied dicks showing up on their phones, men might feel differently about vulva shots. I imagined that r/GodPussy filled that niche (aahhh everything sounds vagina-adjacent now!) by curating the creme-de-la-creme (sorry) of top-tier pussy. But…what does that mean?

I aimed to find out. I discovered the subreddit functions with a very specific definition of a GodPussy, regular awards, and a verification system. Not to mention…lots of arguing and drama. Godpussy gatekeeping, if you will.
