My Best Outfits and Fashion Projects of October
My biggest monthly fashion roundup yet (Plus, homemade Halloween costumes)
For those of you new subscribers: although I usually cover social dynamics and culture, I enjoy writing about fashion a few times a month. To wrap up each month, I like to cover my favorite outfits, buys and sewing projects of the month (yes, I sew! I sew a lot! Way too much, honestly.) If you’re curious about what I wore, bought and sewed, keep scrolling. If this isn’t your thing, rest assured there will be non-fashion content coming in the next day or two. And this issue is extra special, because you’ll get to see the really fun homemade Halloween costumes I did this year!
Best Fits of October
This outfit was one of my all-time favorites, I’d say. I wore the Sezane Selma dress with my trusty $50 Anthropologie brown woven crossbody and Sam Edelman Michaela flats. I know you might be zooming in on the bottom of the dress, tempted to give me crap for not “ironing” but look, we are at a time in my life when my options are wearing leggings all day or wearing something nice. Maybe when my kids are older I will have the time to iron everything I wear, but for now, just deal with it.
I also had a really fun family dinner with my husband, my mom, and our kids. I wore a Saloni silk dress from TheRealReal (they usually run for about $900, which is insane, but they’re anywhere from $70 to $200 on TheRealReal) along with the same Sam Edelman flats, but in another color. (In case any men are wondering, my husband’s shirt is Aime Leon Dore.)
We also had a date night out with some friends and I thought, you know what, I’m gonna be cunty Grimace tonight. So I wore my purple velvet jumpsuit that I sewed earlier this year and paired it with an insane purple faux fur DVF/Apparis coat that I got on TheRealReal for $54. The gold bag here (also featured in the previous outfit) is from Cult Gaia.
