The Supreme Leader of Iran won't see your mean tweets about him, but your friends who are leaders of fascistic theocratic states will.

Think before you post!

I don’t know what’s so perplexing about “MAGA son.” We could use more people like him, who have big political disagreements with relatives but are still vocal about their love for them.

Cartoons Hate Her's avatar

You just don’t see many people like that!

I sort of agree, but….if he understands that his mom shouldn't be risking violence by expressing her political opinions, why did he vote for someone who is actually inciting the violence? That seems like a fundamental issue, way more important than a candidate's stand on tariffs or whatnot.

Victor Thorne's avatar

A lot of people support Trump because of his policy positions other than being unstable and potentially inciting violence, like how a lot of people support Democrats because of their policy positions other than controlling people's lives through lockdowns and doing nothing about the border.

"we just came off a week-long bender of men everywhere insisting Sabrina Carpenter turned them asexual, and who could forget the “Margot Robbie is mid” discourse of 2023?"

Sometimes I think that to have a Twitter account, a random selection of your tweets should be sent to the users' parents as a brake on being an embarrassing person in public.

My hot take is that the average politician is somewhat better looking than the average person, at least if you adjust for age. They're just not as hot as most other groups of people with easily recognizable faces.

Worth noting in this context that Zohran Mamdani and AOC are both in their 30s, so pretty young by politician standards.

Agree. with the exception of Doug Mastriano

Dunno why anyone’s scared of Iran. They’ve never even won an SEC championship. Vanderbilt-ass country.

She says her son painted a self portrait, so surely the painting depicts the son.

I think the blue sky piece and the Twitter black hole really makes me miss magazines.

Not high minded news magazines but workdaday hobbyist magazines that mostly didn’t care if you were a democrat or a republican they just wanted to tell you how to cook, if the new graphics card was good and how cars and appliances perform.

I mostly go on social media for this stuff but it’s so hard because of my revealed preference to get my politics minimized. Tik tok and threads at times get there but today the pop base account had aoc comments on it right there. Why can’t you fuckers stay in your lane and tell me about whatever stupid paparazzi photos or something mindless.

I promise I’m doing the assigned reading for the civics class I don’t need to read about politics everywhere.

What could possibly be the context of that horse’s name?

Pelorus's avatar

Pedigree horse names typically work by combining aspects of both parents names— though the better ones try to make it a proper wordplay. This horse's parents shownames were KIDS CLASSIC STYLE and LOOKIN TOUCHABLE.

I don't know if it makes it funnier that they did this fully on purpose.

Pat T.'s avatar

Thank you for coming in with an answer!

Pelorus's avatar

My pleasure. Here's another fun fact: the breeding chart shows that this horse is inbred! Kid Clu is his grandfather on his mother's side and his great-grandfather on his father's side. Not surprising, from its photo. Kid Clu was apparently a horse in much demand, leading to many of its descendants receiving the unfortunate Kid name. https://gohorseshow.com/2011/11/the-return-of-kid-clu/

I'm hoping it's either Al slop that got auto uploaded by an algorithm or an issue with using Google Translate without cultural context.

For real… I was staring at it for like five minutes trying to figure out some alternate way of parsing it out that made sense and I’ve still got nothing lol

The Old Continent's avatar

If you don‘t know about Zohran, please don‘t believe any of the insane slander about him, elite Dems just hate anyone who slightly threatens them.

Robert's avatar

I mean he's an avowed socialist and unrepentant antisemite...

The Old Continent's avatar

He‘s a Democratic Socialist and not at all an Antisemite, he just opposes the US Arming and funding a genocide and getting dragged into another pointless war in the Middle East.

Robert's avatar

Sure bud. He believes that it is morally justified to blow up buses of Jewish civilians. Have a nice weekend.

The Old Continent's avatar

No he doesn‘t, this is just total propaganda which is trotted out every time anyone says anything even remotly critical of Israel.

VJV's avatar

I doubt Mamdani is actually an anti-semite, but he is pretty terrible: https://www.maximumnewyork.com/p/how-im-voting-for-mayor-in-nycs-democratic

(Granted, if you are yourself a socialist, you probably will disagree with this assessment.)

The Old Continent's avatar

I’m not a Socialist but I disagree with the assesment that Democratic Socialism should be automatically disqualifying. Most European countries have had Socialist governments and none of them have instituted Stalinism. I think that intuitivly opposing someone based on this label, especially if they have run an insanly competent campaign, if the alternative is an incompetent, corrupt, warmongering multiple sexual harraser ultimatly doesn’t do Americans any good.

Paul A's avatar

Oh wow, some generic centrist piece of shit writes generic centrist piece of shit assessment. News at 11!

Paul A's avatar

Robert is a stupid stupid troll. He doesn't even believe what he's writing. He's just parroting the standard right wing (also "centrist") crap about anyone who doesn't think Israeli right wing nut jobs have an absolute right to slaughter everyone else whenever convenient to keep their dear leader out of prison.

The Old Continent's avatar

👍 God I Hope Zohran wins, the earlier Dems get away from thinking serial rapist centrist whose main Message is that he can‘t do anything, is good strategy, the better

Robert's avatar

Hi Paul. Mamdani thinks globalizing the intafada is good. He's not an idiot and he knows exactly what he's promoting. And it's Jew hatred.

There are multiple people in here CHH ought to ban for performing their little aggression fantasies rather than actually talking…don’t let the comments get too sludgy, CHH!

Jeff K's avatar

I’m saving that “I’m not woke enough for this” screenshot for use in the group chat.

Also, the internet was a mistake.

Mike Hind's avatar

I was a CHH subscriber before it was cool. Why did I just have to sign up again. Rhetorical question. This has happened with several of the earliest stacks I followed

Worth it for the last one

Literally some of the earliest Twitter discourse revolved around the hotness of Elizabeth Kucinich during the 08 primaries. The more things change the more they stay the same.
