In the Wisconsin debates, Hong's opponent should definitely wear a variety of Halloween costumes.

That cait tweet really nailed the “women delaying marriage” discourse:

“gen z men would be the same, they just have no friends or sex bc of the internet”

It’s got to be unsettling having your mom describe you as “uncomfortable proximity to whiteness”.

I just want you to know I heard trump speaking for the first time in a long time the other day and damn your trump voice is right on

It was like HE was doing YOU

Ha, love the pit bull discourse. Reminded me of one of David Sedaris' brilliant recent pieces, which should be required reading for all who have an opinion about dogs, meaning all human beings. (How's that for a broad audience.) https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2025/12/15/and-your-little-dog-too

On the topic on your surveys, I did the one on parties, and I answered in terms parties where my kid was the primary invitee or guest of honor. I am curious about how having kids affects the responses, as I imagine a fair number of parents may not be able to summon a proper roster of partiers for themselves, but would be able to throw a well attended event for their kid.

"Halloween! Bah! Humbug!"

"Beware, Hong! On the eve of Halloween, you shall be visited by three ghosts - the ghosts of Woke Past, Woke Present, and Woke Future!"

- From "A Halloween Carol"

I work in retail, where dog discourse is constant: just yesterday a woman came in carrying a dog under each arm. Why are you bringing two dogs to the mall so you can walk around carrying them? But anyway, a woman once came in with a pitbull, it locked eyes with a co worker and began barking, snarling and straining the leash. The owner demanded to speak with our manager, yelled about how it was co worker's fault that the dog got riled up (ma'am, if your dog gets riled up by people existing, don't bring it to the mall). My manager in turn yelled at my co worker for "making the customer feel unwelcome" and she cried. I told my co worker to call HR, she didn't want to.

A two for two: entitled dog owner AND entitled pitbull owner.

“I feel weird defending anything about this tweet, but considering it was 2020, “cancel Thanksgiving” likely didn’t mean getting rid of the holiday entirely, but staying home during that particular Thanksgiving.”

lol she absolutely meant cancelling Thanksgiving permanently. Hence the “should have done this in 1621”

One of my two brushes with famous people before they were famous was when I ate breakfast at diner with Chris Hansen, back when he was just a humble college student (although a very well-pressed and groomed one, for someone in college in the seventies). All I will say is that I think Robert Pattinson is a good choice, from my brief experience.

I don’t understand shelters, why do they kill so many animals but always want to lie and rehome pitbulls. They seem to be misanthropic psychopaths

I will say, in Detroit where I grew up, the shelters just had to euthanize pit bulls. Not for safety but because people used them for dog fighting. They repeatedly saw the same dogs coming back from fighting rings that putting them down litteraly was more humane.

That is so terrible. I hate the idea of dog fights, so cruel!

To be fair, the guy who wishes he’d had the chance to marry young is probably not coming at this from the perspective of someone who had lots of women throwing themselves at him at the time.

Also the guy who thinks that marriage would solve Gen Z guys’ lack of sexual opportunities appears to have a weak grasp of cause and consequence.

Also re: marriage, an Ex promised me he would be in a position to marry me three years in and then uh he deliberately lost his job because it was not his vibe. I took a couple of years to recover from that. To this day this man thinks he’s the victim because I broke up with him 🥲🥲🥲

We have a 90-pound dog (adopted as a puppy) that I suspect is a lab-pIt bull mix and that the rescue shelter told us was a “Japanese terrier”
