Ok, that writer has fully convinced that my kids shouldn’t be my own.

Now where do I go to pick up my The Rock-Serena Williams baby?

Bluesky definitely has potential…saw a joke that involved eating in a restaurant and someone immediately commented that eating is restaurants should make you check your privilege because not everyone can.

Yeah exactly, the seeds are there! I think it's where Twitter was in 2018, so it's a bit like time travel.

This is exactly the impression I had that made me not want to make a bsky I curse the “friends” that convinced me to ignore my lying eyes

True, but they’re also very block-happy, which prevents drama from gaining high visibility in the long term

CMoore's avatar

I’m relatively moderate myself (maybe center right at most!) and I’ve already gotten blocked just by agreeing with QTs about very mundane things

“I’m centrist…”

Whoah there buddy, cool it with the transphobia and racism!

V900's avatar

There’s some skitterer(?) skeeterer(?) who has managed to block over 300.000 accounts on Bluesky.

That’s pretty impressive in a really fucked up way.

> but in a “when I’m a jerk it’s because someone was mean to me so it doesn’t count,” way, except the person being “mean” is just some left of center journalist writing about zoning laws

Laughed so hard at this that the neighbors probably think I've lost it.

I took a BlueSky invite from a friend last year expecting... I guess, some mix of cozy vibes and useful information about the world, from what I'd gathered from all the "it's like Twitter from the good old days!" banter, but I basically lost interest through a combination of my own social media ineptitude and the high visibility of liberal-hating leftist pageantry that I find occasionally funny but mostly just tedious. It's very entertaining to read dispatches from a social media traveler with more patience and/or capacity for humor than I.

Oh and I love the wifejak memes, they're so heartwarming and wholesome

I would love to you to investigate Kent further. After scrolling his profile for five minutes I was starting thinking he was legit, but I have no radar for long running bits these days, and you are an expert!

That last take is the optimizer podcast bro version of the occasional leftist enthusiasm for taking children from their parents at birth and giving them to a different couples to equalize family circumstances.

Thank you for allowing me to feel better about limiting my time on twitter while not missing the drama there. Love!!

I have to admit the rich person Thanksgiving dinner does look pretty good

The Spartans kind of did a surrogate eugenics thing so maybe that's where that guy is getting the idea from? I don't think we really need to create a warrior aristocrat slaveowner caste, though

What was the music theory idea/assertion that drew the Nazi charge? I’m very curious, because I teach and write about music theory.

Really looking forward to your Muppet History scandal coverage

Good Lord! This week I really think I'll have to go Cranky Old Lady mode and just say these people need to get out of the house and get a proper job.

Do rich people not use serrated steak knives? I admit I'm not rich, but that seems dumb! I guess they have a servant cut their steak for them??

anvlex's avatar

It a rich guy, just an upper middle class guy with a decent cutlery set from my wedding registry. The steak knives are straight edged.

I guess you’re just expected to keep them sharp.

Ben Supnik's avatar

I have cheap steak knives and they look exactly like the picture - some kind of polymer for the handle, serrated. Literally could not make them less fancy.

The last one is because rationalists (aka utilitarians aka EAs) believe anything they see with math in it. This always ends up with them wanting to do eugenics, because that involves more math than not doing eugenics, so it must be the thing to do.

Also means they're constantly accidentally joining cults.

Considering that Wifejak is a hottie, it automatically raises suspicions about her detractors heterosexuality, when they seethe about how much they hate her.

that I didn’t “love nazis,” :(

That’s kinda rough ngl
